Casey and Jennifer Boone opened the doors of Boone Mountain Sports, formerly known as Paragon Sports, in 1985, in their hometown of Evergreen, Colorado. It was a time of great innovation in the outdoor industry and they were eager to be a part of this new age of "companies with a conscience". Thirty-two years later, BMS continues as a staple in both the Evergreen and Denver community.
The Boone vision was to create more than just another retail store; they wanted their business to be a gathering place for friends and neighbors, and to strive to educate people about conservation and stewardship of the Colorado mountain environment. Casey and Jennifer sought out creative, like-minded employees who were also outdoor enthusiasts and mountain lovers. To this day, customers can count on sales associates to have thorough product knowledge, and to be welcomed at a store where everyone quickly becomes family.
While running Paragon Sports (BMS), Casey and Jennifer raised four children with strong passions for both the outdoors and the arts. Having completed their educational and artistic endeavors, three of them (Logan, Kelsey, and Riley) have returned to Colorado and are now running Boone Mountain Sports. BMS is one of the few remaining family-owned and operated specialty shops still standing in Colorado, or anywhere for that matter. The Boones bring a lifetime of experience to bear, and combine this with an intention to stay up-to-date with the most cutting edge in ski design technology, and state-of-the-art ski tuning, along with the machinery. As well as the newest fabrications and fashions to keep skiers dry, warm and looking gooooood on and off the slopes.
Logan Boone was one of Icelantic’s first Sales Representatives. He grew up skiing, tuning and talking skis in the back shop alongside Paragon’s many ski technicians. One of which included Icelantic’s founder, Ben Anderson. As a habitual creator and entrepreneur, Casey Boone has built an ethos where creative brainstorming, philosophical discussion, and education are highly regarded and encouraged. As a result, many dreams come to light and are realized here. It was this kind of collaborative effort that inspired some of the original concepts behind Icelantic. While tuning skis, Casey Boone, Logan Boone, Travis Cook, Ben Anderson, and Jon Strieby, developed some of the original concepts of the Icelantic ski product. The idea was both simple and revolutionary; design skis specifically for the type of snow found in any given region of the U.S. Originally there were to be three skis: one for the North East, one for the Central Rockies, and one for the North West. BMS is proud to have been a rung on the ladder in the success story that is Icelantic Skis.
In addition to the ski shop, the Boone family opened Evergreen Brewery right above the retail space two years ago. Shopping has never been so entertaining. Watching colorful family dynamics while drinking delicious beer, shopping some of the hippest clothing, and talking about the newest and coolest technology in the industry, is one of the best experiences Colorado offers. Our staff and customers are an extension of the Boone family. Come in, have a beer and walk away with a smile (and maybe a pair of skis) ;).
BMS would like to take this opportunity to thank Icelantic Skis for the generous spotlight, as well as all BMS patrons, past and present, who have made it possible to keep our long-standing family business experiment alive which in turn supports our mountain community. As a result BMS has been able to donate to schools, employ Evergreen’s youth, donate to local non-profits, and sponsor community events and fundraisers for the last thirty plus years. These are the reasons to support ALL local businesses. BMS is not alone, all of your local merchants support the community in which they live and do business. So, please give back to your own community by buying, eating, and drinking LOCAL. This is part of the reason Boone Mountain Sports has been referred to as "The Local's Choice Since 1985".
